Model: Isabeli Fontana for Muse Magazine Summer 2010
In the past 30 years, the number of women who were diagnosed with skin cancer has doubled according to Self Magazine. Time to take control of the way you eat, think, and even how you apply sunscreen this summer to protect your skin’s future.
This season is prone to beach activities and photo shoots and outdoors/landscape shoots which mean catching higher amounts of harmful UV rays and sun exposure. Make sure before heading out, layer your skin with SPF 15 or more. Here’s a fact you probably didn’t know: SPF adds up! If you put on two layers of SPF 15, it counts as 30. Sweating, swimming, and even toweling off dramatically cuts SPF time so consistent reapplication is a must! So make sure you throw a sun protection bottle or spray into your model bag to have it with you at all times.
Stay hydrated with plenty of water. Your skin will need it this summer when soaking up the sun. Also, munch on fruits and veggies enriched with Vitamin C such as oranges or antioxidents such as spinach that works as a natural defense against unstable molecules that age the skin.
