1. Is ModelURL free?Yes! ModelURL is
free for
basic users. We also offer various tiered packages each including extra resources to help promote and build your talent and business. To see our package deals and what it entails... coming soon!
2. What is ModelURL?ModelURL is an online community served to connect models, photographers and other associate creative talents. We provide the tools and resources for these connections and serve as a gateway to share your talents to among others across the world.
3. How does it work?The process is in three simple steps:
- Register and create a username and password.
- Select a creative type would best fit you.
- Create your profile and upload your photos.
After you are done with creating your account, you are able to view other ModelURL member profiles and connect and promote your profile.
4. What is a Connection?A Connection is another ModelURL user with whom you would like to stay in contact. They can be someone you have worked with, a friend, or another creative professional you want to meet.
All connections need to be approved by the person who received the request. Click here to learn more about blocking a connection.
5. How do I request a Connection with another user? Go to that user’s profile and click on
Request Connection under their profile picture.
6. How do I remove a Connection with another user? Go to that user’s profile and click on
Remove Connection under their profile picture.
7. What if I want to sort or group my Connections? Your Connections have already been categorized by their creative type. You can view all your connections or view connections by their creative type.
8. How do I create a new photo album? In the photos section, click on
Create New Album. After naming and/or describing your album, you can upload as many photos as you like to your album.
9. What is a Main Photo and how come I do not see it in my photo album?Your main photo is a profile picture that you choose to represent your portfolio. Use this photo to garner interest to look at all your work. That is why the main photo cannot be zoomed in, saved into a lookbook, or credited.
10. How do I delete an album?In the photos section, click on Edit Album where you will be able to delete an entire album.
11. How do I edit/delete a picture?While viewing your album, double click on the picture. You will then be able to edit/delete it and add a description to the photo. More importantly, you will be able to give credit to any other ModelURL user like a photographer, make-up artist, stylist and more. Read more about credits here.
12. How do I sort the photos in my album?You can edit the order of the photos in an album by clicking on
Organize Photos. Drag the photos to rearrange the order and then click
Save.
13. Can I preview my album before it is posted?Of course! Click on
View Public Album any time while creating or editing your album.
14. Is there a reason why I cannot make my photos or albums private?ModelURL is designed to help you promote your online portfolio by giving you the tools and resources you need. Posting photos of your choice will only help you. Thus, we have decided not to allow members to have private photos.
If you don’t like it, why post it?15. What does it mean by Publish to my activity feed for a photo album?After you have finished uploading the photos to your album, your connections will see that you have created a new photo album in their activity feed on their homepage.
16. How do I add/edit an entry in my calendar?After clicking on
Create New Entry, you can add/edit information including the title, date, and notes. You will also be able to designate the event as public or private.
17. What is a Lookbook?A Lookbook is a collection of ModelURL photos that you can save, sort, and then show off to the ModelURL community. You can use this as a way to save models you want to cast, make-up looks you want to try, or photography styles you enjoy.
18. How do I create a Lookbook? Click on
Create a Lookbook. Once you name and describe your Lookbook, you will be able to save photos on ModelURL to it. Just look for the
Add to Lookbook button next to a photo. You can add to an existing Lookbook or even create a new one.
19. What does it mean to follow another user?Connecting (Connection Request) to someone on ModelURL implies that you know them and trust them:
- They'll be able to write reviews about you
- They’ll have access to people you know
- They’ll be able to send mass messages to you
- Others may ask you about them and vice versa
- You’ll get updates on their activity
If you do not know this person, you can still get updates on their activity by following them.
To follow someone, simply click on
Follow below the user's profile photo.
To view who a user is following, simply click on
Following below your profile tabs on your profile page.
To view who is following a user, simply click on
Followers below your profile tabs on your profile page.
20. How do I turn OFF Safe Mode?When you log into your account you are automatically taken to your Dashboard. Next to your profile picture, you are greeted in a different language with your name. Below that greeting is the option to Turn Off Safe Mode.
21. How do I change my Profile Picture?Go to the Home button where your Dashboard > go to Settings > once in Settings go to Main Photo and it will allow you to change your main profile picture.
22. How do I UNFOLLOW a user?Simply go to the member's profile page and scroll all the way to the bottom of the page. You will see several options to 1) Remove from Connections 2) Unfollow this Person 3) Block this Person
23. How Do I Move My Photo(s) To Another Album?Go to your Dashboard using the Home Tab > Photos > Click on the album that has the photo that you would like to move > On the left side you should see options to edit your photo > Choose "Move To Different Album" > Then select from the drop down menu which album you would like your photo go to into.
24. How do I Block a user?Simply view the person's profile and scroll all the way to the bottom. On the bottom left, you will see the option to block the user. Please note that this user has to be a Connection of yours before you get the option to block him or her.
