I would love to see more black models like me on the runway and in the magazines!!! I want to make it in this industry so that I can set a trend to have more black models in this indusrty!!! Evey race of models are beautiful, but where are the black models??? I want to change this indusrty in modeling to have more black faces seen everywhere like the other raices of models who are seen everyday on televison, billboards, magazines and etc.!!!!!! I just pray that the right people will spot me and find an intrested in what I am trying to do in the modeling indusrty which I know certain people will not agree with me on this or not even like me for this!!!!!

you are self aware, when more people on a site like this say we are , and decide to do what they want with thier talant, like fashion shows, magazines, retail stores, or retail out lets then you have an part of a industry clothing,textle. manufactureing, this was taken from new york ,they make clothes out side of the u.s. border, but syle, fashion is made every where. get your fashion team, then you see the black models |  | Gaea Oct 24, 2011
I agree with this wholeheartedly. I think if their was some sort of organization or league of black models that banded together, it would promote the idea of black being as beautiful as it really is! Maybe some of these high-powered African Americans should invest in the fashion business and promoting African Americans models, actors, etc...that would open a door for us and bring attention to the beauty of our many shades of color. |

Seriously, in this racist white business, we Black folks are still not in the spotlight as white models.
However, things are NOT as they were when I started my firm in 1985. We/Black models were not in so many things at that time as now.
VH1 was not even on tv in NY. At that time it was only MTV!
Now ...Black music videos are flooded the tv stations.
The gap between the bookings that white models get vs. the bookings which black models get is still not an equal playing ground.
VOGUE, ELLE, MADAME MADEMOISELLE magazines are still which white publications which caters and selects a standard of white models to flood there magazines. In addition, the PRIME advertisers "TRADITIONALLY" use and want to see white models.

but i really agree with you. i hate looking in vogue and thinking i have no idea what any of these clothes would look like on my body or skin tone. none of the makeup tutes are ever on dark skin. 90% of the makeup wouldnt even show up on me. time 4 change!!!!!

I am a black Photographer (mixed with Cherokee & Puerto Rican & Black) I agree with you all. I have just opened a new studio and a development company in Ohio and have began to work with some local models to change things. I have adopted the "Blue Water Concept". If there is no market create one. This takes time but through perseverance and continued hard work anything can happen.
